The Generals varsity softball team emerged victorious in a close contest against the McLean Highlanders on May 17.  Emilie Doty pitched a complete game 3-hitter with 13 strikeouts.  Key scoring contributions came from Caitlin Miller (2 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI), Riley England (2 hits, 1 RBI), Bridget Bartz (1 hit, 1 run, 1 RBI), Ava Lansbury (1 hit, 1 run, 1 RBI), Emilie Doty (1 hit), and Mina Oizumi (1 run).  The Generals fell behind 4-2 in the top of the 5th, but rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead.  Emilie then sealed the deal by striking out the side 1-2-3 in the 7th.  GO GENERALS!     

The Generals varsity softball team lost 8-4 to South Lakes on Thursday May 13 (in a 6-inning complete game shortened by lighting issue).  .  Emilie Doty, Nadia, Foote, and Riley England all toed the rubber for the Generals, combining for 9 strikeouts but also 9 walks.  Highlights included two hits each from Ava Lansbury and Allie Malone and one each from Emilie, Nadia, Riley, and Mina Ouzumi.  

The Generals defeated the Yorktown Patriots 6-2 on May 11.  Allie Malone led the offense with three hits.  Emilie Doty pitched for the complete game win, striking out 13.  Generals base hits also came from:  Bridget Bartz (2), Grace Kane, Emilie Doty, Caitlin MIller, Ava Lansbury, Meghan Long, and Nadia Foote.  

The W-L Varsity defeated Herndon 10-7 on a rainy and sloppy Friday night.  In challenging pitching conditions, Emilie Doty and Nadia Foote combined for the win, notching 8 and 4 strikeouts respectively.  Allie Malone was the offensive spark plug for the Generals going 3-3, with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.  Grace Kane had two hits including a triple.  Bridget Bartz and Riley England had key RBIs.  

Varsity Softball lost a squeaker to Langley High School, coming up just a run short in the final inning.  It was a fantastic game and a pitcher's duel, in which Emilie Doty struck out 12 and gave up only five hits.  W-L hits against the talented Langley pitcher came from Emilie, Bridget Bartz, Caitlin Miller (2), Allie Malone, and Ava Lansbury.  Kaitlyn Fado made two stellar catches in the outfield.  The Generals take the field again Friday night at home versus Herndon -- game time moved up to 5:00 pm.  

On Friday, April 30, the W-L Varsity Softball team notched its second win against Fairfax High School.  In blustery conditions, the team triumphed 18-1 behind a strong pitching performance by Emilie Doty, who threw a complete game, 5-inning, one-hitter with 13 strikeouts.  The Generals offense was led by Doty and Bridget Bartz, both of whom were 4-4 plus a walk.  Next game is Weds, May 5, against Langley at home.  

Congrats to the Generals Varsity on their 17-0 win over Annandale tonight.  Practices resume tomorrow from 5:00-7:00 pm and next game is Friday April 30 at Fairfax.  Bus departure details will be updated on Thursday.
