JV Field Hockey Fall 2014 Try-Out Info.
Try–out Information PLEASE READ EVERYTHING When: Aug. 4-7, 2014.(Teams will most likely be decided by August 7th.) Time: 6:30-9:30 am and a second try-out in the afternoons from 6:30-8. Practice dates and times will be determined by the coach but expect Varsity to be in the mornings with possible additional practices, until the teachers' start date at the end of August when practices will be after 5-7 or 3:15-5:30. F will practice from 7 or 7:30-9 am in August. JV will practice from 6:30-8 pm in August. Times will change once school starts. Where: Washington – Lee HS Meet on the turf. Please begin a 1/2 mile warm-up run on the track when you arrive. What you need: -A physical as of May 1st (NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO TRY OUT WITHOUT AN UPDATED PYHSICAL) PLEASE NOTE: Your completed physical form and permission to play form should be dropped off in the trainer's box (slot) in the Activities office (next to the AD's office) by July 30th. -Insurance information. (The school does offer health insurance. Please see Ms. Callaway.) -You must have running shoes as well as field hockey gear. -You must have field hockey shin guards and a mouth guard to participate. Please bring goggles if you have them(from lax or field hockey) -Please bring plenty of water. Expectations: Every player will be able to do 10 push ups with knees OFF the ground. Push Passes: 20 minutes at least 3 times a week Every RETURNING player will be able to push the ball 16 yards. (New players will be taught during try – outs how to pass) Drives: 20 minutes at least 3 times a week. Every RETURNING player will be able to drive the ball 35 yards. (New players will be taught during try – outs how to drive) AS Always: Everyone will be expected to run three miles in under Coach Prange's time in order to be on the Varsity Team. Everyone will run the three miles. There will be hills. You must condition over the summer! Remember--no one is guaranteed a spot on any team.
